OLIVER GOLDING is on course to become the first British winner of the junior boys singles at Wimbledon since footballer Stanley Matthews' son in 1962.
Elsa perettiGolding and Laura Robson (inset) both won yesterday to become the first home-grown players in the same year to reach the last four of the boys and girls respectively since Buster Mottram and Glynis Coles in 1972.
Golding, 16, is now targeting the title which was last won by a Brit when Stanley Matthews Junior triumphed in 1962.
Londoner Golding, the British No.1 junior, defeated the No.9 seed Renzo Olivo of Argentina 4-6 6-4 6-4. He faces the unseeded Benjamin Mitchell of Australia today in the semi-finals.

Robson meets the No.10 seed Sachie Ishizu of Japan in the semi- finals today as she bids to win the title for a second time.
Robson's victory helped brush off comments by BBC commentator David Mercer that she needs to get rid of her "puppy fat".
She said: "It doesn't bother me at all.
"I'm feeling pretty good and it's good to get through - but it was tough playing another British girl."
