QI've been told to grow tomato plants which have been grafted. Are they better? ATomatoes can be grafted on to a rootstock which is resistant to certain fungal root diseases and eelworm. You will have no problems - ordinary tomatoes can be planted easily in most grow bags.

QI recently bought some Ranunculus plants which have done well in my garden. Will they come up again next year? ARanunculus have a tuberous root called claws and the foliage dies back in late summer. Lift Replica watches and dry the claws in a frost-free place and replant next spring.

QI can't buy calcium nitrate to prevent blossom end rot of my tomatoes. Is there anything else I can use? AWhile blossom end rot - where the bottom of the tomato goes brown - is caused by lack of calcium you will find that if you don't let the compost get too dry, there will always be enough calcium present.

QI find it difficult to water my plants in grow bags. Any tips? AYou can sink a 10cm pot into the grow bag and water into this. Alternatively, I have seen a plastic bag which is filled with water and connected to each plant via tubes. The water drips out slowly and is very good.

QI bought a plant of catmint and would like more as my cats like to lie on it. How can I grow more? ACatmint or Nepeta x faassenii is early propagated by soft tips of shoots inserted round the edge of a pot full of seed compost. Water well and cover with a polythene bag and keep out of direct sunlight.

QI planted bearded Iris a few years ago and they look healthy with lots of leaves but no flowers. Why is this? AIt is important not to plant bearded Iris too deeply, as the fleshy rhizome needs to bake in the sun for the best flowers.
